SHAPESHIFTERs Illuminate Lockn' Music Festival

The 2014 Lockn' Interlocking Festival in Arrington, VA was recently the setting for performances by several dozen rock and jam band legends, including Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Wilco, Widespread Panic, Willie Nelson, Steve Winwood, Taj Mahal and The String Cheese Incident. Two sets of High End Systems SHAPESHIFTER luminaires helped bring the action to the Lockn' stages; with production by BML, the fixtures were supplied by Mainlight Industries and Creative Stage Lighting.

Though he handles the lighting for some of the acts, much of his job is to facilitate the major touring acts and their lighting designers. Ragan says, "We used a total of 24 SHAPESHIFTER C1's - 12 on each stage. The rigs are identical - side by side in a festival setup. My old friend Adam Camp turned me on to the SHAPESHIFTERs pretty early in the game; he arranged for the team from Creative Stage Lighting to come down for a demo. We ended up hanging four light ladders upstage with 4 C1’s each. We were looking for a diversified fixture, and wanted the eye candy in the day time and a big fat beam at night. I love the SHAPESHIFTERs for their big, fat beam. The fixtures were on all day for all LD’s to use.20141222hd3.png Joining Ragan on the crew from BML were programmer Luciano Saverda and crew chief Russ Felton. The next Lockn' Festival is scheduled for September 10-13, 2015.
