Allen & Heath has announced a new SLink option card for its SQ digital mixer series, opening up SQ’s potential for digital FOH / monitor splits, broadcast feeds, recording and more.

The option card runs independently from the built-in SLink port, allowing two different Allen & Heath protocols to be used in one system, at the same time. As such, it is now possible to run the following:

  • DX expanders and a ME personal monitoring system
  • DX and dSnake expanders
  • Expanders and direct connection to another Qu, SQ or dLive system
  • Simultaneous direct connection to and from an SQ and another Qu, SQ or dLive.

Features:

  • 128 inputs and 128 outputs of audio and preamp control
  • 96kHz or 48kHz operation
  • gigaACE (96kHz), DX (96kHz) or dSnake (48kHz) connectivity
  • Intelligent switching between modes
  • Independent SRC for use of two different protocols in one system
  • Plug’n’play installation*

“After seeing how excited engineers were with the SLink port in SQ, we knew we had to build the technology into an option card. With the amount of possibilities an additional SLink port offers, and a retail price of just $189.00, we can see the card being incredibly popular,” comments SQ Product Manager, Keith Johnson. He continues, “In conjunction with the forthcoming SQ V1.3 firmware release, this card further extends SQ’s scope for expansion and provides a great solution for digital FOH / monitor splits, broadcast feeds, recording or any system that requires instant access to 256 remote sockets!”
